Peter's Book "The Icecream Boy" is now available through Parkinson's NSW!
The Icecream Boy

Peter Dawkins, who had a stellar career in music production, has suffered from Parkinson's disease now for some 20 years and he has been through the mill. He fought hard to keep working in the face of increasingly severe symptoms, but had to stop. Peter was one of the first patients in Australia to undergo deep brain stimulation, but it had limited success for him and, after a couple of years, he had the surgery re-done, this time successfully.
Peter has written his autobiography, published by Parkinson's NSW, titled The Icecream Boy. It's a ripping yarn about being immersed in music, as well as coping with PD.
The book, a 110-pp paperback (with colour illustrations), is being offered by Parkinson's NSW at $24.95, including GST, plus $6 for postage and packaging.
A compilation of some of Peter's most famous music productions, on CD, is included in the price, so the package is a snap. "

For Pete's Sake!
Peter Dawkins is one of Australasia's most respected
and distinguished music veterans. He produced over 20 chart-topping
singles covering the 70s and 80s.
He produced such well-known iconic Australian records as:
'Wings of an Eagle' for Russell Morris; 'Pegasus' for Ross
Ryan; 'Don't You Know It's Magic' for John Farnham; 'April
Sun in Cuba' for Dragon; 'Computer Games' for Mi-Sex; 'Short
Note' for Matt Finish; and Australian Crawl's album 'Sirocco'.
He has produced over fifty gold and platinum
records throughout his extraordinary career and received many
prestigious production awards.
During the 70s and 80s, while Peter served as
A&R Director for CBS (now Sony/BMG), he signed Air Supply.
As General Manager with EMI Records, he was instrumental in
the signing of Crowded House.
Both bands went on to huge international acclaim
and stardom.
For the past 16 years Peter has been suffering
from Parkinson's disease,
the debilitating neurological condition for which there is
currently no cure. The illness adversely affects all the muscles
in the body. Peter is currently in the advanced stages of
the disease, and required an urgent operation which is not
publicly funded.
The Australian music industry has come up with
the required funds, and Peter has had the operation. "For
Pete's Sake" is a compilation CD of some Peter's favourite
productions over the years, and sales go towards repaying
this and related costs.
The CD is available now from all good record
retailers through Sony/BMG.
